Congratulations on being admitted into the College & Career Lab! This summer starts (or continues) your journey with CCL until the summer after high school graduation. Even if you are returning to CCL, review this page to ensure you are ready to join us in July!

A few days after you applied to CCL you received an email from university.programs@nyu.edu with the subject “Your NYU ID Numbers and Status Page” with your assigned NetID (abc123). Search for that email (it might be in your spam folder) and follow these instructions to activate your NetID:

*Write down your NetID and password for easy access to all of NYU’s platforms going forward.

 

** Returning students have already completed this step. If you cannot remember your password scroll down to the FAQs to get help on resetting it.

Before moving forward, accept your spot in the program. Using your assigned NetID, you can follow these steps to accept or decline the admissions offer.

To access your the wifi network, NYU Email and NYU Google Education Apps, along with additional e-resources, you must set up MFA. MFA is a second layer of security and helps ensure your sensitive information is secure.

As you prepare to join us in the summer, you must complete the program forms, CCL entry survey and submit for your NYU ID.

1. Submit required program forms. These forms must be submitted by all parents and guardians for students under the age of 18. First, login to the applicant portal using your NetID and password- then click on the links below:

2. In addition to the above forms, a parent or guardian must complete and submit the form below to the NYU Student Health Center.

Once completed, please submit the form online to the NYU Student Health Center by following these steps:
  1. Log in to the SHC Portal with your Net ID, password, and University ID number (8-digit N number). Your Net ID and ID number are listed above.
  2. Select “Medical Clearances” in the menu
  3. Find the row for “Consent Forms”
  4. Find “Consent to Treat a Minor” and select Update
  5. Upload the completed form
  6. Click Save

*Only this health form is required – all other forms in the portal are for NYU undergraduate students. Once you have completed the Treatment of a Minor form, please disregard any non-compliant or not-satisfied alerts, as those are meant for undergraduate students.You may not be able to fill out this form until a week after you have accepted your spot in the program.

 

3. Complete the CCL entry survey. This survey will tell us your t-shirt size, dietary restrictions, your interests, and the college or career knowledge you are coming to the program with! It is not a test but a way for us to get to know you better and tailor the program to your needs!

*Students are allowed to bring up to two family members or guardians to orientation, but they must be registered with NYU three weeks in advance. If guests are attending, their information must be entered on the CCL Entry Survey, or else they will be denied entry to NYU- no exceptions. 

 

3.  All students must have an NYU ID Card; this is your NYU student ID and grants you access to NYU buildings and services.

Visit the NYU Card Center photo submission website and click the ‘Login’ button to access the photo ID system with your NetID and password to submit a photo. Submitted photos must be at least 480 pixels wide by 600 pixels high and taken against a white background.  You may not be able to submit your photo until at least a week after you have accepted your spot.

 

CCL will pickup your ID and give it to you at orientation.

 

4. Read the NYU Summer Programs Handbook. CCL students are expected to follow the same rules that have been established for all students participating in summer programs at NYU. The CCL program syllabus has additional information and will be sent before orientation.

CCL Policies

  • On time attendance is mandatory
    • Exploratory – More than three (unexcused) absences during the 20 day program may result in dismissal from the program.
    • Immersive – More than one (unexcused) absence during the 10 day program may result in dismissal from the program. 

 

  • Participation is required
    • Your participation will enrich the experience for you, your peers, and the NYU faculty and staff!
  • Disruptive behavior will not be accepted. This includes:
    • Interrupting sessions and presenters
    • Distracting peers during class
    • Speaking over others
    • Using your phone during sessions
    • Having headphones/earbuds in
    • Running, yelling, and otherwise playing in NYU buildings

 

  • Touching, hitting, jokingly or playful fighting is strictly prohibited

 

  • Disrespecting presenters, peers, and staff with language and/or body language will not be tolerated. This includes:
    • Using any type of slurs or stereotypes to mock fellow students, advisors or presenters
    • Purposeful and harmful misuse of pronouns or names
  • Cell phone and headphones/earbuds or earbuds are strictly prohibited during sessions, and all students will be asked to put all devices away during sessions. 
    • If devices become an issue, all students will be asked to lock their phones at the start of the day and they will be returned before lunch

 

  • We encourage students to dress comfortably, as they will be moving around the city during the hot summer months. 

 

  • Students should dress as they would for a normal, in-person school day, where clothing with inappropriate language or revealing clothing is not allowed. 
    • We cannot account for all cases this may apply to, but in general:
      • Clothing should not be revealing (we should not be able to see through your shirt, your shirt should meet your pants when your arms are raised
      • Skirts/Shorts should go to at least the student’s middle finger when hands are at their sides
    • Keep in mind that students will be interacting with NYU faculty members (professor), guest speakers (industry professionals), and other staff. These adults may lend a hand in the students’ college and career pathways, and students should therefore aim make a good impression. 

    • Athletic attire is not appropriate everyday, and throughout the program there may be opportunities for students to dress as they would in the field.

 

  • It can get cold in NYU buildings and a light jacket or sweater is recommended.
  • Late Arrivals:
    • Make CCL aware as soon as you know you will be late by email
    • If we are traveling that day, you may be asked to stay or return home

 

  • Early departures:
    • Should be avoided unless arrangements have been made in advance
    • Students will have classes and activities in many different campus buildings (or throughout the city) and it may be difficult to arrange an individual meeting point or departure point
    •

If a policy is violated students will have two chances to correct behavior. The warning procedures are:

  1. Program staff will first address the entire cohort during a break as a reminder of the program policies. 
  2. Program staff will then speak to the student individually. This will be considered the first warning.
  3. The student will receive an email with a digest of the conversation.
    • Parents and guardians will not be contacted after the first warning in an effort to allow the student to re-correct their actions.
  4. The same process will follow should the student continue disruptive behavior. This will be considered the second warning.
    • An email will be sent to the parent/guardian.
  5. If a student continues to be disruptive after two warnings, If a student continues to be disruptive after two warnings, the parent/guardian will be contacted to set up a time to meet about their student’s dismissal from the program. will be contacted to set up a time to meet about their student’s dismissal from the program.

If you experience any problems accessing your NYU NetID and changing your password, please:

  1. Try changing your password by selecting ‘forgot password’ at this link

 

If the email address you originally used to create your password (the first time you created a password at NYU) is not accessible – follow the steps below:

  1. Contact us at collegecareerlab@nyu.edu
  2. We will provide you with your NetID, N#, and the email you signed up with
  3. You should then provide that information in an email to NYU IT at AskIT@nyu.edu and ask them to reset the email to a current, active email.

At CCL Orientation! Exploratory Stage students will meet us orientation on Monday, July 8th at NYU Washington Square at 5:00 PM. Immersive students will have an online orientation on July 2nd at 7:00 PM. Orientation is mandatory for ALL participating students.

Exploratory Stage: Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend with their students (only two family members per student). Guests must be registered in the CCL Program Survey at least three weeks in advance. If approval is not granted via email, guests will not be allowed to enter NYU buildings. 

We will review policies, program schedules, and additional details related to the program. Students will meet with their advisors and peers to get to know one another before the first day of the program.

Students should come prepared to actively participate in all CCL sessions. You are a ‘college student’ while you are at CCL; being on time, being attentive, and asking questions or sharing opinions are expected. 

At orientation, you will be provided with:

  • NYU ID card
  • MTA card
  • Name tag and lanyard
  • CCL notebook, pen, and folder
  • CCL t-shirt, bag and water bottle

It is your responsibility to bring all of these items to CCL every day.

Students may also consider bringing a light sweater or jacket, as classrooms may be cold throughout the summer.

Students should NOT bring personal laptops, tablets, AirPods, game consoles, or other devices to campus. Program staff are not responsible for any items that may be lost or stolen.

 

Students are encouraged to take notes, the same way college students do, with pen and paper.

Students will receive a daily schedule and syllabi outlining expectations, times, and locations of all classes, field trips, and program sessions at the time of admission into CCL. 

 

You can expect to spend 6.5 hours a day at NYU’s Washington Square campus with advisors leading you throughout the daily plans. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day as well as guided breaks to enhance the learning environment.

 

University faculty, staff, and CCL advisors will lead students through a mixture of lectures, activities, discussions and exercises to build student’s skills and knowledge around college and career interests.

We operate in person however when you accept your admissions offer and enroll in CCL, you will gain access to a range of NYU digital resources throughout the summer, including: NYU Bobst e-Library, NYU Google Apps Suite, LinkedIn Learning (Lynda.com), NYU Email, and more!
